Nigeria is replacing its postcodes. We'll help you find your new one.
On October 1, 2026, the Federal Government launches a GIS-enabled alphanumeric digital postcode system that assigns a unique code to every property in Nigeria — replacing the old 6-digit numeric postcodes. NaijaPostcode.com is being built to look up, explain, and verify the new codes from day one.

What we know so far
- Launch date: October 1, 2026, announced by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani (August 2026).
- It is GIS-enabled — each code maps to an exact property location, not just a district.
- It follows the latest international postcode design standard; Nigeria joins roughly 10–15 countries using alphanumeric digital postcodes.
- It is one of three federal digital-infrastructure projects rolling out together, alongside a 90,000 km fibre-optic network and about 3,700 rural telecom towers.
What NaijaPostcode.com will do
- Free postcode lookup for every state, LGA, and street once codes go live.
- Plain-English guides: how the new format works, how to update your address for banks, deliveries, and government forms.
- Old numeric postcode → new alphanumeric code reference.
